This page covers what we collect, why, and what happens once you click through to book — written the way we'd explain it to a friend, not the way a law firm would.
What we collect
The only personal information we ask for is your email address, when you sign up for fare alerts on the board. That's it — no name, no phone number, no account to create.
Every signup form also has a hidden field designed to catch spam bots. It's invisible to you and does nothing if you're a real person filling out the form normally.
Like any website, our host (Cloudflare) automatically logs basic technical information — IP address, browser type, pages requested — as part of running the site securely. We don't use this to identify or track individual visitors.
How we use it
Your email address is used for one thing: sending you fare alerts when a route worth booking appears on the board. We don't sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone outside the tools we use to run the site, described below. We don't send anything else — no newsletters, no offers from other companies.
Where it's stored
Email addresses are stored with a secure third-party database provider. We don't run our own servers.
Cookies and tracking
Departique doesn't use tracking cookies or analytics today. The only thing saved in your browser is a small local preference for the currency you'd like prices shown in — it stays on your device and isn't used to track you.
If that changes in the future, we'll update this page to say so.
Affiliate links and other websites
When you click through to book a journey, you leave Departique and land on the operator's website, or a booking platform they use. From that point on, you're subject to their privacy policy and whatever cookies or tracking they run — not ours. We earn a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. More on this under Terms of Service, below.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from fare alerts at any time — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can use our
unsubscribe page directly. If you'd like your email deleted from our records entirely, or want to know exactly what we have on file for you, email
[email protected] and we'll take care of it.
Children's privacy
Departique isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove the address.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. Changes that affect how your email address is used will be communicated as clearly as we can manage.
Who runs this
Departique is operated independently. "We" and "Departique" in these terms mean the same thing — if you have questions, email

What Departique is — and isn't
Departique is a curated board of slow travel deals: overnight trains, ferries, coastal ships, and similar journeys we think are worth your time. We research routes and operators and surface the ones that clear our bar.
We are not a travel agency, we are not a booking platform, and we don't process payments or handle reservations. Every "Book this journey" link takes you to the operator's own website, or a booking platform they use, to complete your booking directly with them.
Affiliate disclosure
We earn a commission from some of the operators and booking platforms we link to, when you book through our links. This costs you nothing extra — the price you see is the price you'd find booking directly. We only feature journeys we'd genuinely recommend; commission doesn't decide what makes the board.
Accuracy of information
Fares, schedules, and availability change — sometimes within hours. We do our best to keep the board current, but prices and details shown here aren't guaranteed and may differ by the time you book. Always confirm the final price, dates, and terms on the operator's own site before paying.
Acceptable use
Use the board the way it's meant to be used — browsing, comparing, and clicking through to book. Please don't scrape, copy, or republish the board's content, and please don't use the signup form for anything other than genuinely signing up for fare alerts.
Limitation of liability
Departique is provided as-is. We're not liable for losses arising from booking decisions made using information on this site, from errors or delays in fare information, or from the policies, service, or conduct of the operators and platforms we link to. Your booking is a contract between you and the operator — not us.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Departique grows. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
